Day 365 of 365 (11 Aug 2010) - The End
Well, I can’t believe it.  I’ve made it to the end of my 365create journey, having been there pretty much since the start.
It’s been a long and sometimes rocky road, but I’ve managed with a combination of creative activities: photography, poetry, artwork, video and even the odd audio poem as well.
For this last entry, I decided to be inspired by the graphical style of the band Pop Will Eat Itself (PWEI), mainly created by The Designers’ Republic.  The font is from PWEI’s “Amalgamation” EP and the logo is from one of the old PWEI singles.   Some of the left hand side warning text appeared on some of their singles around 1989-90 onwards as well.
And they happen to have a new single out for download only, for free (clicking the artwork will take you there)
I’d like to thank everyone who stopped by to have a look at this work in progress, anyone who took the time to comment also and Phojus for inspiring us all to take on this mammoth project.
Now for a rest till January 2011, maybe!

Day 364 of 365 (10 Aug 2010) - No More Soccer Saturday

It’s almost the end of an era for many a football fan
As the really bad news filters through
Sky Sports News is going to be leaving us
And so no more Soccer Saturday on Freeview
For many a football fan who can’t afford the high cost
Of having all the satellite and Sky
It was the way of catching up on the day’s games
As well as watching Jeff Stelling laugh and cry
No more James Brown scoring and the infamous doll
No more seeing Chris Kamara miss a sending off
Instead the droll BBC Score Interactive
Which despite Gabby Logan is a real turn off
As many of us will possibly pass and mourn
The one thing that kept us tuned in that day
Think on that instead there’s other things to do
But none will be quite the same on Saturday.

(It’s scandalous that Sky Sports News is leaving Freeview, obviously an incentive to get people to subscribe to Sky I think!)

Day 363 of 365 (09 Aug 2010) - Living For The Weekend

I don’t want to go back to work today
I’ve had too much of a good time
Enjoying the weekend with some good friends
Going to work seems like a crime
I know I value the free time that I have
And make the most of all that
I just wish it wouldn’t go so quickly
And soon end at the drop of a hat
I can’t wait till the next weekend to start
So I can have some more quality
It’s what I’ve wanted in my life
And I’m taking these opportunities gladly.

Plenty of people were heading out on the lake cruise in Bowness-on-Windermere, even if it wasn’t the sunniest day ever.

Day 358 of 365 (04 Aug 2010) - Summer’s Gone

Endless days of constant rain
Make you wish to be somewhere warmer
You can’t believe it started so well
And has gradually turned much colder
The wind howls from the hills
And the rain just lashes it down
Instead of you feeling rather sunny
You instead have a sulk and a frown
It’s wishing that it wasn’t so cold
So that you’d feel the Summer breeze
But Summer left us behind months ago
And now we’ll soon have Winter’s freeze.

Day 357 of 365 (03 Aug 2010) - The Days of Computer Gaming Past

I decided to revisit a poem I wrote in July 2007 and recite it in audio form instead.  Quite a challenge but well worth doing.

Day 356 of 365 (02 Aug 2010) - Back in 1993..

When I was the mere age of twenty one
Music was a worthwhile trip into town that day
You had no Internet or online shops
You had to make the effort on a Monday
To check out the new releases that were out
Get the opinion of the friendly shop staff
Head home with the purchase and play it loud
Seeing if you felt your purchase was good or bad
Now it’s all digital short term consumption
That doesn’t fill me with the same sort of feel
That holding something physical in your hand does
It just seems all virtual and not so real.

(Ah, the old days of indie record shops such as Power Cuts.  How I miss them.)

Day 354 of 365 (31 Jul 2010) - Wash Day

I’ve got home from my break
And I know I have to wash
Everything I’ve worn when I was there
Because it needs a good clean
I just want to get it all done
So I feel like everything’s over
But I still feel like I’m away
And just don’t want to begin.

(We’ve all felt like this!)

Day 353 of 365 (30 Jul 2010) - East Beach, Nairn
I got home from my break in the Scottish Highlands and felt that I needed to make this shot of the East Beach in Nairn a touch more dramatic, so I darkened it a bit and made it monochrome.  Mean and moody.
